Halloween è alle porte… e nella mia mente è tornato un vago ricordo.. ZIO TIBIA! Ho cercato qualche video su YouTube… ed Eccolo qui; Zio Tibia, un pupazzone che all’epoca amavo.. e che ora mi fa sorridere!!!

This weekend i’ve installed the last kubuntu version (gutsy), all works fine for me except my Wireless adapter (Linksys WUSB54g ) and my old NVidia GeForce 420 Go.

I’ve resolved this problems in some minutes;

• rt2500usb compiled in the gutsy kernel doesn’t works. So i’ve added the modules rt2500usb in the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and i’ve compiled the last legacy driver downloaded from serialmonkey.
PS: i don’t use Network Manager!
• Geforce 420 Go is not supported yet by the NVidia proprietary driver, so the last working driver is the 9636. So i’ve downloaded this driver and i’ve installed on. I’ve added Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0" in the "Device" section of my xorg.conf.
This resolves the black screen bug.

Tempo fa, ricordo che al dipartimento di Ing dei Materiali avevano problemi con i loro terminali linux. Tali terminali tramite RDP si connettevano ad un Terminal Server Windows.

L’unico problema che affliggeva quei terminali era l’uso delle periferiche di Mass Storage.. ovvero le Chiavette usb!

Si potevano seguire diversi approcci.. ed oggi ne ho trovato un’altro..

Questa soluzione a me nuova si chiama "USB Server".. in pratica il terminale, fa girare un server che permette di "montare" in remoto le periferiche di archiviazione di massa USB.

Il tutto funziona grazie ad un modulo da inserire nel Kernel ed ad un demone che fa da server di rete.

Sulle macchine Windows, possiamo utilizzare USB Redirector versione LITE (Freeware).

Chi usa linux deve spesso fare i conti con l’acquisto di nuove periferiche. E’ sempre buona norma controllare la compatibilità dell hw scelto prima del suo acquisto. hardware4linux ci aiuta proprio in questo..

Ovviamente il progetto hardware4linux funziona se e solo c’e di continuo gente che uploada i suoi commenti sul suo hardware..
