<p>Linus Torvalds, creatore di Linux ha commentato dicendo:</p>
<p>&#8220;While I don’t necessarily think that this is the best strategy for an emerging marketplace OS, I think it’s good that there is a definite position, so we all will know what to expect from our software&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I’ll not fight the combined opinion of other kernel developers, but I sure as hell won’t be the first to merge this [patch], and I sure as hell won’t have _my_ tree be the one that causes this to happen.&#8221;</p>
<p>Bene, dopo questa affermazione e presa di posizione CONTRARIE delle due parti&#8230; e dopo una miriadi di commenti di altri sviluppatori e non.. ecco la mia!<br />
In uno scenario in cui Linux è in ascesa ed il simbolo della nostra bandiera è la libertà; libertà di installare software gratuitamente dalla rete, libertà di avere con noi i sorgenti.. non dimentichiamoci che abbiamo un&#8217;altra grande libertà, che è quella di farci COSA VOGLIAMO! Credo allora che limitare il kernel a non far caricare moduli non GPL, oltre a limitare il parco hardware compatibile con linux, limiterebbe anche la nostra &#8220;volontà&#8221;!<br />
Questa è la mia semplice opinione. Comunque credo che Linus abbia ancora una volta dimostrato di essere un perfetto &#8220;papà&#8221; per Linux.. son quindi contento che Linus non limiterà il suo kernel con nessuna patch proibitiva!<br />
